Our Process During A Boiler Service
Before we go into what happens during a boiler service, you need to make sure the engineer you hire is qualified to do the job. To service a gas boiler, the engineer must be registered with the Gas Safe Register, whilst an oil boiler should be maintained by an OFTEC engineer. Before they begin working on your boiler, ask to see their ID card.
Here at Enflame Plumbing and Heating, we are Gas Safe registered, therefore fully qualified to service gas boilers and in this blog, we go through our process when it comes to servicing boilers.
So what happens during a service?
Visual Checks
Firstly, our heating engineer will carefully inspect the boiler and lookout signs for corrosions and leaks. They will also ensure that it still meets current standards and requirements. Finally, they will visually inspect the flame in your boiler.
Look inside the boiler
After carefully removing the casing, we will double-check the components inside the boiler to make sure they're all in working order, before cleaning it. The heat exchanger, burner, main injector, and spark probe are all thoroughly checked too.
Extra Checks
We still carry on carrying out additional checks such as checking that the flue terminals are clear of obstructions and that the flue is properly installed. We also check to see that the gas pressure is at the correct pressure to ensure your boiler is working correctly.
Switching the boiler back on
Once your boiler has passed our checks, we turn the boiler back on and carry out further tests to see if any issues occur when the boiler is switched on.
When it also passes all the necessary tests and meets our requirements, we will be happy to issue a Gas Safe certificate. If you would like to know more about what is included in our boiler service, get in touch by viewing our contact details below.
